Jan van Grinsven, before having the idea to settle down and work together with his family, had fulfilled another dream…a classic
sailing yacht used for high standard charters around the world. This did indeed become a true project that was meant to last ten
years; and 'White Heather' has been sailing around the seas under his command since 1994, offering her guests the best service and excellent
quality wines and food.
Today, those ten years have passed but Jan will not let 'White Heather' die, so he has decided to bring his dream to land.
What once was a barn, is now a cosy restaurant with a separate bistro that on one hand maintains the outside original
architecture and on the other projects both the essence and the heart of 'White Heather'.

La Bruyère Blanche offers a delicious selection of seasonal dishes: a whole selection of elaborated recipes
by the famous Dutch Master Chef, Albert Kooy, who carefully selects the best local, seasonal and in-house ingredients for its new Périgord kitchen. La Bruyère Blanche also counts on its own biological garden for vegetables and fruits, which brings a beautiful selection of in-house grown natural ingredients into its menus. |
Our restaurant guests will also find a complete and unique selection of excellent local wines from the seven Bergerac regions.
These same wines will be part of the wine tasting adventure at Les Merles.

Albert Kooy's career as a chef started after he was drafted into the Dutch Navy, where he cooked for two years aboard various sea going vessels.
